News Pandemic

We are the virus, part II

This post came about after I read this story earlier today, and while this story came out of Australia, and how the folks there are dealing with the pandemic, it mirrors how people are resonding here in the States, from what I have seen firsthand. It’s really a quite good read, and I couldnt agree more. Some quick excerpts:

“The very fact stores have had to place limits on a wide range of items has exposed many of us to the uncomfortable truth that, when it comes right down to it, many of us are only interested in looking after number one.”

This, to me, has been painfully obvious for at least the last two decades. Many people just cannot be bothered to consider others, during this media-driven frenzy we’re having right now, we can see it everywhere. In a sick way, it confirms what I have believed for a long time, but in a sadder way, this is where we are, as a species. We should be better Human Beings, but most of us are not.

“So if you’ve just flown into the country, whether it’s from a high-risk location or not, and you’re not self-isolating; if you are, in fact, just popping to the shops, or dropping in on your great grandmother at the retirement home, you are putting others in danger.”

More of that “me me me” mentality that’s so pervasive in the world today, don’t believe me? Check this out (video was taken on March 16, 2020)

Not a care in the world, and truthfully, if they all infected each other and it stopped there, I wouldnt have a problem with it, but if people get infected because they had to go to the beach, and then they go around and infect others, that had more common sense… See where I’m going with this?

The Author of the post suggests that there are ‘Good People’ out there as well, I wholeheartedly agree, but they are sorely outnumbered by the clueless masses only concerned with their own lives. When we get past this mess, I know, for myself, it’s going to take a very long time before any faith I had in Humanity is restored.
